Lola G. Granger

Lola G. Granger died peacefully at Cedar Crest Health Center on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Lola Genevieve Berryman Granger was born May 24, 1919, in Cozad, NE, the daughter of Troy and Emily (Stevens) Berryman. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1937. Lola married Charles L. Granger on June 13, 1943, in Cozad. They moved to Janesville, Charles’ home town, in 1959. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1988. Lola was a member of 1st Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), its Christian Women’s Fellowship, and the Adult choir. She was very active in the Janesville Chapter #69 Order of the Eastern Star, Hope Court #11 Order of the Amaranth, a former member of the Zion Shrine, a member of the Eagles Club, VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, RSVP, where she was a Senior Companion, the Senior Center, where she was the drummer in the Senior Citizen’s Band for over 25 years; and Royal Neighbors of America, where she was the recorder of the local chapter for many years. She was also a School Crossing Guard for many years. She loved to ride on the Eagle Club’s float in the Labor Day parade with Jim and his “band”, and “jam” after band practice at the Senior Center. On rare occasions she played her drum for the nurses and CNA’s at Cedar Crest Health Center. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor, having had cancer in the 1960’s. Lola loved traveling to visit family and friends. She was always making plans for her next trip whether it be to Nebraska, Guam, Florida, Texas, Maryland, Virginia or California. She enjoyed watching golf and was a great fan of the Green Bay Packers. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

 

Lola is survived by her three children: Mary Granger of Long Beach, CA, Charlene (David) Behling of Janesville, and John (Jon-Ann) C. Granger, Sr., of Reston, VA; her grandchildren: John (Angela) C. Granger, Jr. of Janesville, Brian (Bridgette) Behling of Washington, DC, Kelly Loudenslager of Windsor Mills, MD, and Troy Behling of Janesville; her great-grandchildren: Justin Loudenslager and Aidan and Ryan Granger; one sister, Mary Ella Bourn of Cozad, NE; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles; her parents; three brothers; and an infant sister.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to 1st Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1909 Highland Avenue, Janesville, WI 53548 or the Employee Fund at Cedar Crest, 1702 S. River Road, Janesville, WI 53546.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST), 1909 Highland Avenue. Visitation will be held at the HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011, and again one hour before the service at the CHURCH.

Lola’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Cedar Crest Health Center for their care while Lola was with them the last three years. They would also like to thank the staff at Cozy Lil’ Acre for their care prior to her stay at Cedar Crest.
